8"/55 caliber naval rifle US Navy heavy cruisers

8”/55 caliber naval rifles were main armament for US Navy heavy cruiser classes built from the 1930’s to the 1950’s. Used extensively throughout the Pacific theater in WW2 and in the Korean War. US heavy cruisers saw their last action on the firing line off the coast of Vietnam in the early 1970’s. These weapons, in their final Mark 12 configuration, were auto-loading and fired up to eight rounds a minute!
